Schubert's wind octet in F major was never completed - much to the regret of the wind ensembles. Having discovered the obvious similarities between the thematic material of the wind octet and the String Quartet in C major D 46, musicologist Peter Stamm has now transformed Schubert's fragment into a complete four-movement wind octet, a significant expansion of the available repertoire.
