Good Old Times is a crossover composition by the classically trained and jazz inspired trombonist & composer, Marin Rabadan. The composition, originally written in 2019, was written for this friend, the Croatian flautist, Renata Penezic. It is in one movement with sections marked as 'Tempo di Dirty Harry', 'Love Tempo' and 'Dancin Boogie Tempo'. Scored for a classical flute and a jazz piano trio, this piece is a great successor to the Jazz Suite by Claude Bolling and would programme well with it.
"I decided to make a “light” piece that would be an hommage to forgotten times, when music itself was real and was created with passion and love. This is the reason that I named it Good Old Times. It consists of three mutually different parts. First part will remind us of 70’s detective movies when Dirty Harry and James Bond ruled the big screens. Second part is gentle and romantic love story like the one from West Side Story. Third part is a dedication to the pioneers of good old rock’n’roll from 1950’s, the legendary Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry who invented new music genre and they marked a whole generation with dancing rhythm & blues power."
