Here are four delightful trios from the skillful pen of Marc Berthomieu. Tuneful, moderately challenging and concise, each one would make a lovely addition to any programme.The opening Menuet is in F minor and sweeps around the flutes effectively. The Gigue is upbeat and will improve staccato playing, whilst Limonaire has something of the fairground about it. Hungaria is full of rhythmic drive, again starting out in F minor but ending in C major which brings the whole work to a happy conclusion. This is probably best suited to a more advanced trio who can put it together quite quickly which makes it a very useful purchase indeed!
