From the Publisher

Steve Roy (*1993) teaches piano at the Langenau Conservatory in Baden-Württemberg and also leads the youth symphony orchestra there. He performs regularly with chamber music ensembles and as a soloist and is the director of the Munich chamber choir Concentus Merulae. For him, composing is a natural part of the life of a musician and music educator.

This piece is the result of experiments carried out during a seminar by composer Markus Schmitt (*1965) at the Leopold Mozart College of Music in Augsburg. These are four microcosms for flute, clarinet and bassoon inspired by a haiku by the Swedish poet Tomas Tranströmer (Nobel Prize for Literature 2011) from the collection Das große Rätsel [The Great Enigma] (2005). The piece lasts approximately 7 minutes.
