This is a very expensive book but you may feel on this occasion that it could be money well spent. There are 9 quartets here (less than £3.50 each!) written in any easy style which will be popular with all kinds of students. The note ranges are small and the rhythms are not too complex. However there is a degree of independence between the parts, coupled with the security of someone having the same as you very soon. There are some really delightful quartets here, especially the Petite Waltz which introduces quaver and quaver rests and helps to cement the idea of tune and accompaniment. Coming Home has the most interplay and there is a lively 6/8 number called Sous le Pont. With pieces in 3 and 4 sharps, it's not my idea of writing for complete beginners, but these can be recycled for the more advanced to approach these keys in a user-friendly way. Expensive but worth it.
