This is a playable work by Tulou, based on the famous tune by Martini. Written in the standard format of the genre, the introduction is tuneful rather than showy and the theme suitably Romantic. The three variations demand fingers and tonguing dexterity as usual but again the overall effect isn't really flashy. Even the Finale is an elegant Moderato. This would make an excellent piece for a younger student who loves a challenge and is a great introduction to the style of this important flute composer.
