An introductory, atmospheric Andante is followed by a lively Allegro, whose capriciously strutting theme Tershcak works into a highly virtuosic variation. This is followed by an Andante doleroso in F sharp minor with characterisitc accompaniment phrases in the piano, reminiscent of gently swaying waves on a southern shore, while the flute indulgently intones a kind of lament. The final Finale Allegro gives the flute another opportunity for highly effective virtuosity with breakneck triple-tonguing passages that really exude Italianata.
