“Try something different!”
If you want to play something a little different, how about this interesting Suite by the Danish composer Lars Floee? Each of the four movements is based on a different culture and Floee captures their flavour really effectively. The first piece, 'Szitakoto' takes Bartok as a starting point and is the most approachable. Part 1 has the melody with parts 2 and 3 accompanying in quarvers. It will need to played energetically though. Sakura, Sakura starts in 11/4 and this famous folk tune uses typical Eastern harmonies to convey the mood. Balkanski Mish-Mash changes time frequently and with it's Vivace speed indication is the most challenging of the movements. Granada simply depicts the the Andalucian ebullience in a flurry of notes! Most enjoyable and worth the risk!
