This is another beautiful work for flute choir from Phyllis Avidan Louke 'meant to evoke the image of a Native American flutist playing from a mountaintop to the valley below'. It's not technically difficult but there is independence in all the parts, and the piccolo is used to great effect so intonation will need to be spot on for the writing in octaves. A drum will add an extra dimension to this work although it's not strictly essential. The piece is especially atmospheric if you can position players around the performance space to really enhance the echo effect. Very imaginative, very effective and just wonderful - one of the best definitely!
Originally composed for alto flute and piano, this works beautifully for full flute choir. Artfully evokes the feeling of playing from a mountaintop.
