Okay, so this is yet another piece of 19th century flute music written by a virtuoso player-composer based on themes from an opera. In this case, however, Donizetti's 'Maria Padilla' is a melodrama and Ciardi has fashioned a charming duet from the music. Unusually it starts with an Allegro Moderato, followed by an Andante and ending with an Allegretto so it's not as difficult as it could be. Yes, the parts are mostly a 3rd or a 6th apart, yes there is a standard cadenza and yes it is 8 minutes long. You could pick much worse repertoire than this though - trust me!
