Arno Liebau 1888-1936
With this serenade ,written in 1929, Liebau created an affectionate miniature full of charm and elegance with playful chromatic ornaments for the flute and guitar-like accompanying motifs in the piano, entirely in the spirit of a Mediterranean serenade, which one cannot deny a certain irony. With its relative brevity and manageable three-part formal structure, this work is also quite suitable for today's student concerts.
