There is no doubt that the Mozart referred to in the manuscript is not Wolfgang Amadeus: the lack of a first name being a pointer to an early dating of the work. Consisting of three movements, it is a work such as might have been written for entertainment purposes at the Court of the Archbishop of Saltzburg. Despite the composition's undemanding nature, we notice an unmistakeable freshness of invention and attention to detail. An occassional work, but one which throws an interesting light on the level of music practice at the time.
