In 1958, the revival of Baroque music was taking flight in an astonishing way, thanks to the influence of the vinyl record. Raphaël Fumet was not slow to see the implied possibilities. Here, he exploits a rarely-requested pairing of instrumental colours, the flute and the viola in duo. He draws on the spirit of Baroque music, while maintaining a surprising originality within the confines of this much travelled style.
