In 1840, Robert Schumann took five poems by Friedrick Ruckert, set them to music as songs and dedicated them to his beloved Clara as a wedding gift. Franz Liszt arranged “Dedication” for solo piano in 1849. It was revised by William Scharfenberg and has been set for flute choir by David H. Bailey.
This exquisite piece reminds us of Faure's Cantique de Jean Racine.
