Eric Coates disliked writing film music (and did not provide the score for the film itself) but had just completed this march and agreed to let the producers of The Dam Busters use it. In this arrangement for double reeds the iconic theme and soaring countermelodies are passed between all players and the optional percussion of triangle and cymbals add a touch of sparkle and grandeur to the proceedings.
