Agthe, who remained relatively unknown, lived from 1762 to 1797, i.e. during Mozart's time, and was a valued musician during his lifetime. His flute concerto is a good study piece in the classical style, which, with a simple song-like theme, provides the flute with a lot of varied passage work.
