This well known miniature from the ballet La Fille Mal Gardée is danced by the Widow Simone (and accompanying ballerinas) as she is enraptured by a pair of clogs presented by her daughter. In this flute ensemble setting, each player has the chance to provide the percussive clogs by tapping their feet, as the arpeggiated tune weaves its way through the texture.
