"This well known and characteristic Chinese tune was first notated in 1425. Plum Blossom is a common symbol in Chinese literature and art, representing elegance, nobility, purity and strength. Three Variations on Plum Blossom exists in many forms and has been arranged for a variety of solo and ensemble combinations. This version is quite a short one, including only two of the three variations often heard."
