Unusual for this series of works for piccolo edited by Beaumardier, this simple piece could be played by someone quite new to the instrument. In G major, it has a limited range of notes but a catchy rhythm on which to hang a fledgling technique. The central section comprises of trills all in the middle register and the high soft Gs at the end could easily be played down the octave. The accompaniment is also quite straightforward so this could easily be performed by 2 students. A gem!
