Celtic for Two is a collection of transcriptions of the finest and most popular Celtic folk songs and ballads for flute and guitar. The fascinating thing about these Irish and Scottish traditionals is the range of emotions they convey, from melodic melancholy to atmospheric merriment and joy. In order to express these different moods and make the transciptions interesting and diverse sounding, I continuously varied the way I arranged them (melodic variations, counterpoints etc) and drew on unusual playing techniques such as glissando acciaccatura and tambora. The resulting transciptions are therefore suitable for concert performances and chamber music recitals, as well as for teaching purposes and music school auditions.
