Caderas is Spanish for hips, and this has a catchy rhythm which will certainly make you want to move! Written in a populist style, the parts remain fairly static melodically which allows the rhythmic ebullience of the music to shine through. This can be played by any number of players and there are optional parts for alto, bass, contra bass and agogo bells which really add colour. It's great for a party!
Inspired by a remote body of water in British Columbia, this original work is scored for solo C flute and flute choir.
