After visiting Norway and the coastal town of Bergen, Terschak was inspired to write a set of pieces for flute, Nordlandsbilder (op.164), for which he received an honour from the King of Norway. Bergen features a Halling, which is a traditional Norwegian dance, in which men energetically perform high kicks and other acrobatic leaps in a show of rivalry.
