This piece was composed in 1995 for Cecile Daroux who was a master of contemporary flute performance. Full of detail, the intricacies of the rhythm together with th swirling notation create a mesmeric and atmospheric work which will stretch instrumental and musical skills to the max. Autour is a highly virtuoso piece which calls for a special glissando technique involving consecutive groups of fingering. This produces a very complex result with a correspondingly rich timbre which is particularly effective in the lower register of the alto flute.
