This elegant andante contrasts passages of poignancy with bars of joyous vigour.Originally scored for solo flute and orchestra, for this edition, the orchestral accompaniment has been compressed into a single line for a second flute with all thecorrect harmonies maintained. An optional cadenza composed by Roz TruÌbger is added at bar 92, although the performer is encouraged to extemporise their own as intended.
