This is a substantial piece with a unashamedly Romantic feel. The opening is lyrical and flowing but ends with punchy trils which lead into a meno mosso. Here quirky harmony underpins an 'off-centre' melody. The cadenza that follows is atmospheric rather than virtuoso and the piece ends with a recap of the opening and a sparkling finale. There is plenty of interplay between the two instruments which makes it really interesting to play and lovely to listen to. A winner!
