This is a great quartet for developing ensemble skills, especially as the note range is moderate and the harmony straightforward. There is much that it is in rhythmic unison so that the syncopations of the tango can be easily learned to increase confidence and there are also enough solo lines to give everyone a chance to shine. The more lyrical central section then gives all parts complete independence before the rhythms of the tango return in a slightly more complicated form. It is easy to see how this clever piece of writing can allow groups to develop over the course of a term so if you are lucky enough to run a quartet this will serve you very well.
An entertaining tango in various instrumentations. Ideally suited for music lessons and concerts.
