This is such a wonderful piece of flute music! It has a most haunting quality which is very moving. The lovely opening motif recurs throughout to give a structural cohesion binding the other episodic strands together. Texture is achieved through a challenging use of dynamics. There are no multiphonics, but timbral trills and portamento add even more colour. The only drawback is that there is no getting round the need for a B footjoint. If you have one this piece is a must!
