This is an unusual book that puts a new slant on how to practise sound and tonal control. 'Air Becomes Sound' puts the focus on opening up standard exercises to look at them differently. For example, the Five-Minute Meditation uses words to help with the breathing/blowing technique, Rampal's Secret starts with bell tones which develops into double tonguing and Ghost Tones which is based on a Geoffrey Gilbert exercise for control of high notes. This really does make you think differently about how you blow. Just another tone book? Absolutely not!
Let your flute playing blossom!
A workbook for sound development by Gaspar Hoyos
Intermediate to advanced level
"At last a method that links technique and music!
We feel the music coming alive from the first note, we learn to experiment and develop with joy and curiosity.
It is a vibrant tribute, through its constant desire for expression, to the great Masters of the French flute school who taught us their art and mastery of the instrument.
A lot of humanism and a fusional relationship between human subjectivity totally assumed, and Music through the instrument.
Bravo and thanks to Gaspar Hoyos and to Tetractys Publishing."
