“Quite a rarity”
It's not often that you come across really good music for this combination that can be successfully played by those with less experience. Blaz Pucihar has a fine reputation both in educational arranging and original composition so this is a rare treat. The 'Air' starts with a simple string accompaniment, the flute then having a lovely melody which it sometimes shares with the violin. 'Adorable Blues' is harder, with some tricky rhythms and faster passagework. There is still plenty of unity within the ensemble writing though, so more the challenge is not too daunting. This is a piece you will return too many times over as well, so great value for money.
This two-part work by up and coming Slovenian composer Blaž Pucihar is a fun and energetic addition to the chamber music repertoire. The Air is a calm and pastoral piece which contrasts the excitement of the Adorable Blues. Don't be fooled by the name, the Adorable Blues is a fast-paced adventure through many different moods.
