Rachmaninov's stunning Adagio and the wonderful arranging skills of Shaul Ben-Meir combine here to produce this gem of a piece for flute choir. The romantic sweeps of melody are mainly shared between the first three flutes, the constantly moving inner parts provide the harmonic depth and the bass anchors it all together. Sustaining the intensity and maintaining the textural balance will obviously be the main challenges here but it's such a treat to be able to play transcriptions of this quality that effort is really worth it. Slow music for flute choir? You bet!
