Rheinberger's "Abendfriede" - originally for organ solo - presents the subject in a wonderful form: the music comes down from a "higher register" and flows into the confident melody of the evening peace, which presents itself with different colors in the alternation of sound and volume. An arrangement for melody instrument and organ is an obvious choice, especially since Rheinberger himself valued such arrangements.
