If you're looking for studies that are slightly different this is a good place to start. The melodies are elusive and the underlying harmonies unexpected, so this is a great opportunity to discover new ideas while improving familiar techniques. All seven are well written, some with interesting jazz influences, one in 5/8, and the one marked quasi improvisando will free up creativity. There is much to admire in this little book and they are all really interesting to play.
These interesting new studies embrace specific technical, stylistic and rhythmic problems, whilst being essentially enjoyable concert pieces.
