These four mazurkas have been arranged to allow developing players access to this wonderful music. Each are pitched in the lower parts of the flute and look approachable on the page. This means that these beautiful tunes are learned more easily. This is great little volume for those 'in between grades' times where sometimes a good tune is all that's needed.
The Mazurka is a traditional Polish dance in triple time, featuring a dotted rhythm and a certain accentuation on the second beat. Originating in Mazovia near Warsaw, the Mazurka's popularity was established by Chopin who wrote fifty or so for piano from 1830-49. These examples show his wide-ranging orginality in this most elegant and aristocratic of dance forms.
