Everyone loves Telemann and these four concertos are a perfect way to introduce his contrapuntal writing to flute players who may not be used this style.. All four have four contrasting movements each so there is plenty of opportunity to practise breath control and tuning in the slow movements and staying in the right place in the fast ones. The arrangements are very well constructed so it is possible to really focus on those all important listening skills. They're all lovely with the pick probably No 1 in D major which is also known as La Caccia. This is music that will last a lifetime!
These 4 concerti, each with 4 short contrasting movements are unusual in that they were orginally composed for 4 violins without continuo. All four parts are independant and equal in difficulty, but all contribute musically.
