This is a great book of duets chosen by Simon Hunt who is a master at putting together collections of wonderfully playable flute music. The title should give us a clue as to the nature of this book. Most of the material has been taken from the methods of the great 19th century players (Tulou, Devienne etc) and all 24 keys are used. Some have a specific purpose (low notes, double tonguing, soft playing etc), while the rest are just lovely to play. Additional pieces include an E major version of Faure's Berceuse from the Dolly Suite and a study on Rossini's Gazza Ladra Overture by Garibaldi. There are also some short scale-based duets added to help key recognition. This book supplements Simon's highly-regarded solo study books and will be embraced by everyone who thinks there is still a place for good old-fashioned technique!
