After using one, it's hard to know how much moisture was present, and if any has been absorbed, because the dryers never seem damp after use. It's probably best to use them anyway, as they might help prevent a pad becoming sticky. The size and shape is good for clarinet, fitting neatly under even the smallest pads. These are probably the most effective way of drying pads.
I thought I would try this product, since it is a lot cheaper than the powder papers which I use quite regularly. It is not nearly as absorbent as the powder papers, and after having used it a few times, my key will still be a bit sticky.
If you want a cheaper alternative, then it helps dry the pad a little bit, but is not totally effective.
